Vision
To be the leading provider of integrated systems for the analysis of genetic variation and biological function.

Purpose
To improve human health by enabling our customers to accelerate the collection, analysis, and applicat ion of biological information.

If you're an expert in life sciences, this all makes perfect sense. But many of us aren't. So what does this really mean?

Translation
Illumina develops and manufactures technology that allows researchers to gather, process, and analyze genetic information-LOTS of genetic information-that can be used to study the causes of disease.

For instance, why is one person more likely to develop Type-2 diabetes than another? Why do some people respond favorably to certain cancer-fighting drugs, while others are unaffected? By identifying genetic similarities and differences across genders, age groups, ethnicities, and individuals, we can all gain a better understanding of how to prevent, treat, and cure illness.

Illumina offers the most comprehensive "tool kit" for modern genetic analysis, which includes genotyping, gene expression and sequencing. Our products help scientists answer complex biological questions—at a revolutionary speed and cost.

And we're just getting started.
