Understand Your Genome (UYG) is more than a conference, it's a movement that engages, educates and motivates the professional and practitioner community towards a better understanding of our DNA and its implications for health care.
With the mission of helping society responsibly drive towards more precise health care and health management for every individual, it's a movement that starts, literally, at the DNA level of the attendees themselves.
The Understand Your Genome symposium provides a unique, hands-on opportunity to learn about the information encoded within the human genome—your own genome.
Your genome will be sequenced by the CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited Illumina Clinical Services Laboratory, and a report of adult onset genetic conditions, carrier screening, and responsiveness to certain drugs will be generated. You and your physician will then have unprecedented access and insight to your genomic information through the Illumina MyGenome web app.
At the symposium, industry experts will discuss topics such as the application and clinical utility of whole-genome sequencing, ethics in the genomic era, and the evolving and growing need for genomic counseling in health management.
Illumina is committed to partnering with the broader community to ensure the journey to more individualized health care is pursued responsibly and collectively.
TruGenome Clinical Sequencing Services is performed in the Illumina CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendment)-certified and CAP (College of American Pathologists)-accredited Clinical Services Laboratory. The TruGenome Sequence information is generated by licensed personnel using an analytically validated process. Consistent with Laboratory Developed Tests, it has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
This genome sequence information can be analyzed to potentially aid your doctor in the evaluation of a broad range of health conditions or physiological traits. You will not receive medical results, or a diagnosis, or a recommendation for treatment from Illumina. Any results arising from the analysis of your genome sequence information that might be deemed medically actionable should be confirmed using alternative testing. If you have any questions or concerns about what you learn through your genome sequence information, you should contact your doctor or a genetic counselor.
Currently Illumina does not accept orders for Clinical Sequencing Services from New York.
