The GoldenGate Methylation Cancer Panel I provides cancer genetics researchers with an efficient method for performing genetic association studies.
The panel spans 1,505 CpG loci selected from 807 genes where 28.6% contain one CpG site per gene, 57.3% contain two CpG sites, and 14.1% have three or more sites. Selected genes fall into various classes, including tumor suppressor genes, oncogenes, genes involved in DNA repair, cell cycle control, differentiation, apoptosis, X-linked, and imprinted genes.

- Methylation data can easily be compared to gene expression data using the GenomeStudio Software Methylation Module

Applications
Array-Based Methylation Analysis
DNA methylation plays a critical role in the regulation of gene expression and has been implicated in the etiology of many human diseases including cancer. Methylation profiling with BeadArray technology allows researchers to analyze the effects of aberrant methylation (either hyper- or hypomethylation) for a variety of applications. Illumina has developed a robust methylation profiling platform that provides quantitative methylation measurement at the single-CpG-site level, providing the highest resolution for understanding epigenetic changes.
