Universal Arrays

GoldenGate Assays are deployed on the 12- or 32-sample Universal BeadChips during the hybridization step of the GoldenGate Genotyping Assay. Instead of gene-specific sequences, beads contain universal sequences or addresses that hybridize to complementary sequences in the prepared sample.

The Universal-12 and -32 BeadChips can be read by the iScan System or BeadArray Reader. Both scanner systems generate reproducible high-quality data due to their high sensitivity, dynamic range, and signal-to-noise ratios. The principal difference between the two platforms is the significantly higher throughput rate using the iScan System, however performance is analogous when a Universal BeadChip is imaged with either system.

Custom Low- to Mid-plex Genotyping

For profiling and validation studies requiring low to mid-plex genotyping, Illumina provides customized solutions that allow researchers to optimize the number of loci per sample and throughput level to best suit their study goals. Custom assay panels can be easily developed for any species and deployed with either BeadArray or Veracode technology.
