The BeadChip decode map files (.dmap) are required to scan BeadChips on a BeadArray Reader, iScan, or HiScanSQ system. The reader uses the .dmap files to generate intensity data files (.idat) that are loaded into the GenomeStudio Analysis software for data analysis.
The DMAP Download Client software provides a way to electronically download your DMAP files. We recommend that you download the files soon after receiving your BeadChips. DMAP files are retained in Illumina's system for 30 days after your first download or until the expiration date on the BeadChip package, whichever comes first.

Manifest files provide a description of the SNP or probe content on a BeadChip or in an oligo assay pool (OPA). They are available as a .bpm file for Infinium BeadChips, .opa file for GoldenGate assay pools, .dap file for DASL assay pools, or .bgx file for gene expression arrays, and are provided for both standard and custom arrays.
All manifest files are required for data analysis in Illumina’s GenomeStudio software. In addition, BeadChip .bpm files are used by the Illumina LIMS to track products throughout processing and analysis. Illumina LIMS also requires a product definition file (.xml).

Cluster files (.egt) are used when analyzing genotyping data. Use these files to create genotype calls and analyze data in Illumina's GenomeStudio software. Illumina provides cluster files for all catalog Infinium BeadChip products, but does not provide cluster files for custom GoldenGate or VeraCode OPAs, or custom or consortium-developed iSelect (Infinium) BeadChips.

Known as product definition files, these files are required by Illumina LIMS to identify and accession products into the system. The appropriate .xml definition file is automatically included in the download of an Infinium BeadChip manifest file (.bpm) or GoldenGate manifest file (.opa). Product definition files are provided for catalog and custom genotyping products.
