Thank you for visiting the customer support site for setting a BIOS password on your Illumina system (eg, instrument, server, computer) to keep it secure. Assigning a password to a system’s BIOS provides an added layer of security and is recommended by Illumina, per the Setting BIOS Password CCN2025-1703 sent on March 25, 2025.
Illumina highly recommends that customers assign an Administrator BIOS password on all Illumina systems, regardless of whether they are connected to an external internet or local network.
Refer to the following instructions to create and set an Administrator BIOS password to the following systems:
DRAGEN v3/v4 Server, iScan, iScan Dx, iSeq100, MiniSeq, MiSeq, MiSeqDx, NextSeq 1000/2000, NextSeq 500/550, NextSeq 550Dx, NovaSeq 6000, NovaSeq 6000Dx, NovaSeq X, VeriSeq NIPT Server, as well as any other computers associated with Illumina end-to-end workflow products.
MiSeq i100 comes with an Administrator user password set on the BIOS. As a result, the MiSeq i100 does not require additional steps be taken at this time.
