Our daily activities and agriculture can take a heavy toll on our environment. Dr. Sharon Doty, from the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences at the University of Washington, hopes to use plant-microbe partnerships to revolutionize the fields of agriculture, forestry, and bioenergy by making them more environmentally and economically sustainable. In this episode, Jacques and Irene traveled to multiple locations in the State of Washington, to follow Dr. Doty and her lab in their daily activities. They have successfully applied plant-microbe symbiosis to both the eco-sustainable cultivation of plants, as well as to the bonification of heavily polluted soils.
